November Brushstrokes
Headed To Taos (10/26):
I'm headed to Taos early in the morning for SWAHC "Southwest Art History Conference" - it's held at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House - I missed last year's conference - I also hope to shoot some good pics for painting subjects while on the road or while I'm in Taos.

My Roses (10/25):
Each morning, I go out and shoot a few photos of my roses.  A freeze will come soon and they will all be gone.  Roses love the cool nights, at 5000 feet, here in Albuquerque.

KCK Art Teachers (10/24):
It was great to see some art teachers from Kansas City, Kansas in Garden City.  Below is a photo of four of the best of the best.

Back From Kansas (10/23):
I had a successful workshop in Garden City.  Got to see some old friends.  One day, I'll do another KAEA Conference.  Below are photos of art teachers from Kansas in my "Tearing Mountains" workshop.

Sitting The Show (10/13):
This morning,  I'm sitting the NMWS exhibition at the fair grounds.  It's a wonderful show this year.  Each show seems to get better and better.  The quality and the number of entries was way up for this exhibit.
I'm also getting my materials together for my watercolor/collage workshop in Garden City, Kansas next weekend. I'm going back to Kansas to attend the state art teachers conference.  Years ago, I served on the board of KAEA and attended conferences every year.

Tearing Mountains Workshop

It's been eight years since I attended a Kansas conference.  I'm staying in Garden City on the 21st and the 22nd.  It's about an eight hour drive.  If I leave Albuquerque early enough, I can stop in Springer, NM for breakfast.  The Brown Hotel there has a great little cafe.

Last Of The Balloons (10/9):
After a few days of rain we got the balloons back. I got several great shots against the mountains, over the house and even landing on our street.

No Balloons Yesterday (10/6):
It rained all night yesterday (we really needed it) so they cancelled the balloons for Wednesday morning.  Must have been a good rain because our bird bath was full.  The early morning skies looked like we might get even more.

Frames All Gone:
I sold the last of the beautiful frames from our WFWS exhibition.  My bride is glad because they were stored in our library.  Now that the frames are gone she can move furniture and play house - that's part of a females nature.

Watercolor Workshop (10/5):
Today, was the second day of Ann Smith's watercolor workshop. What a beautiful, inspiring venue to paint in.  The Fine Arts building, at the NM State Fairgrounds, looks so much like New Mexico with it's rough hewn beams and especially the tin work lights hanging overhead.

5th Grade Artist
Watercolor Checkin Day (10/4):
I started this morning shooting photos of balloons from our backyard.  It was a cool day and they floated much higher this morning.  The balloons stayed up for a long time and were more to the east of us.
Today was tour day for our team at the museum.  We took 5th graders on an art tour.  Afterwards we had them create miniture retablos on precut pieces of wood.
Later, I took my watercolor to be checked in at the Fine Arts building.  I got a preview of the work lined along the walls.  This fall's exhibition will be a strong one.

Ann Smith
Ann Smith Demo (10/3):
Monday night's watercolor society meeting featured a demo by our juror Ann Smith.  Ann is also doing a four day workshop for members starting on Tuesday.
Balloons (10/2):
This mornings balloons stayed near the Balloon Fiesta Park.  They say the air conditions are called a shallow box.  I still shot photos from the backyard using a 300 mm lens.

Sunday's Balloons
Balloon Fiesta 2011 (10/1):
I got up at 4:00 AM this morning to catch a bus (Park & Ride) to the Balloon Fiesta Park.  I got there at 6:00 AM, in time to see the "Dawn Patrol" launch.  It was a perfect day for hot air balloons.  I shot 823 photos before getting back on the bus to return me to my car.  Then - I went to join my Saturday Painting Group.  I was able to make some progress on my newest watercolor of "Jason and Pancho".
