January 31:
I had a busy morning - I finished one watercolor and framed several more. In the NMWS Spring Show we can enter 3 large paintings and 3 small paintings (80 sq inches or less). Now mine are all framed just in case something gets in.

January 19:
I got a good start this morning on my new watercolor. I've tried to paint "Bird Girl" before - perhaps this time I'll be successful. I saw this young lady feeding birds in a park in Auckland, New Zealand several years ago. Yes, I asked her father's permission to shoot the photos.

January 18:
Recently I've done several drawings for new watercolors. "Dueling Banjos", "Christmas-NOLA" and "Royal Street Duo"  should be fun. I will have lots to paint over the rest of the month.

I finished my new watercolor this morning of a street musician we saw in Auckland, New Zealand while on our world cruise last year. The instrument in my new watercolor is a Chinese Erhu 2 Stringed Violin.

January 6:
Today's Watercolor Society meeting provided lots of ideas If you ever wanted to try painting outside, but are a bit hesitant, Wendy Ahlm will present a number of options and inspiration to help guide you. From a tiny palette to a cart with a pod, and many options in between, Wendy will demonstrate a variety of setups to paint in plein air. This demonstration will also include tips to simplify big information from outside into a painting.

January 5:
I finished my newest watercolor this morning - "Moorea Dancer".

Gallery One:
A large crowd showed up for the official opening of "Gallery One" on the first floor of City Hall tonight. The new gallery is the brain child of our Mayor Tim Keller. We may be the only city in the country to have a mayor with a degree in Art History.

...

January 4:
We drove up to Los Alamos to pick up paintings today - I took this photo from a window in the gallery. It's been a long time since I last drove in snow. It was beautiful up in the mountains. On the way back we stopped at "Double Take" in Santa Fe.

January 2:
This morning I got my painting ready for the WFWS exhibition in Arizona. It will be shipped to Phoenix with the 13 other paintings by New Mexico artists to be framed in Arizona.

January 1 - Happy New Year:
My Bride and I spent the better part of today packing up most of our Christmas decorations. As usual, on New Year's Eve (Last Night) we went to sleep early. Our son, Jimmy, in Texas sent us videos of the celebration as he saw it from his appartment in Dallas.
