Art at the Center 3/28:
This morning, I'm shipping my watercolor to Overland Park, Kansas for the Art at the Center's National Juried Exhibition. The exhibit will be on display from April 7 until June 12, 2017 at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, 11902 Lowell Ave. (119th & Lowell) in Overland Park, Kansas. The center is open daily: Mon-Fri 5:30 am - 10 pm; Sat 7 am - 8 pm; Sun 10 am - 8 pm. I've entered these exhibits often, even before we moved to New Mexico. The website for information is:

MasterWorks of New Mexico 3/23:
MasterWorks will be opening soon. My watercolor of "Clarinet NOLA" made the postcard - I've also posted the events schedule.

At The Museum 3/20:
Today I displayed one of my watercolors at the Albuquerque Museum. This was our annual friendship luncheon and docents were ask to display things they create.

New Watercolor - From NY City 3/18:
I began a new watercolor yesterday - I think it's almost finished. My reference was from photos I took at MOMA - the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. I noticed these people at a large window looking over the city.

Return From New York City 3/14:
Yesterday we got home - we drove back from Kansas City. Originally, our trip began by hauling a trailer full of furniture to Emporia, Kansas. Our triplet grandkids are starting college this fall and we thought the could use some comfortable furniture. Tess and Tiff will be attending Emporia State. Tim had decided to go to K-State in Manhattan, Kansas. The girls will be living a couple blocks from campus in Emporia.

We spent 3 nights with our oldest son Jim and his girl friend Judy. They wanted to keep Blossom with them while we were in New York City. We flew to New York from Kansas City to attend the NAEA Convention. In New York I was elected president of the retired art teachers - RAEA. My bride and I had eights in New York - which gave us several days after NAEA to play tourists. We rode the "hop on hop off" bus for two days as well as riding the subway system. Plus we did an amazing amout of walking. It was cold and windy - with some decent weather. But at least we were gone before the big snow storms came in.

We Walked the Brooklyn Bridge & Visited the MOMA
...
There is even art when riding the subway system. These large tiled versions of Chuck Close portraits were on our list to visit while in New York.

Southwest Air brought us back to Kansas City where we had left our car. We picked up Blossom and headed to stay 3 nights with our youngest son Buddy and his wife Shari. We did not see much of the triplets because both girls were attending an Anime Convention. We did find time to visit Fran's Aunt Kate and her cousin Bob. Kate turns 97 this year and his as sharp as ever - and a damn good Democrat. It's always good to be home and sleep in your own bed - especially after 16 days away.

My watercolor “Reggae Reflections” was accepted 3/2:

“Reggae Reflections” was accepted into the Louisiana Watercolor Society 47th Annual International. This is the first time I’ve gotten into this prestigious international exhibition. I am honored to have the juror Susan Webb Tregay select my work. The exhibit will be in the Atrium of Place St. Charles, a luxury office tower in the Central Business District of New Orleans. The exhibit runs from May 6th till May 20th.

In October, 2015 my bride and I took a cruise from Boston to New Orleans. That's where I found the subject for my watercolor “Reggae Reflections” which was accepted for the show in New Orleans. The musician I painted was on the island of Curacao. My bride and I are reflected in his sunglasses.

MasterWorks 3/1:
I was fortunate to be one of 40 watercolor artists juried into MasterWorks of New Mexico this spring. My painting "Clarinet NOLA" is part of my series on street musicians from the New Orleans French Quarter.
