Painting around Taos, New Mexico
Artists claim the light is magic on the high Taos plateau.
I found out for myself
that the light is truly different.
Perhaps its the 7000 foot altitude,
perhaps its the long history of the many cultures
who populate this local.
It could be that the light reflects
off of Taos Mountain or the blue green
of the abundant sage growing everywhere.
Cutting through the high Taos plateau
is a 900 foot deep chasm cut by the waters
of the mighty Rio Grande river as it heads
for the Gulf of Mexico.
My painting of the Rio Grande Gorge
is from the highway just South of Taos.
Rio Grande Gorge
I also did a watercolor of another artist
painting deep inside the Gorge.
Taos Canyon Artist
Many people visiting Taos take advantage
of the river for white water rafting.
My white water painting is titled
Fathers Day
because of the day in June when
it was painted
