There is something special about the texture 
of adobe walls that demand to be painted.
Adobe comes from the earth.
Buildings made from adobe are one with the earth.
Many adobe buildings are actual sculptures
molded, by hand, from the soil they sit on.
Ranchos Restoration
is a watercolor I did of the annual
rebuilding of these sacred walls.
I visited with the laborer on his ladder.
Mudder
He gave up his vacation time to travel
from Minnesota to volunteer.
Once each year the Parish comes together
to restore this beautiful church
at Ranchos de Taos.
Chimayo is another special place.
Its gate welcomes people from all over
to come in, pray and rub a bit
of magic dust on their aches and pains.
